THE 1999 FOLK FAIR WAS THE LAST –

All good things come to an end sometime. There will be many, many wonderful memories. The end of the millennium is a fitting time to end – it’s better to end the show, and keep good memories, rather than try to stage the event with diminishing resources and have memories be as diminished as the resources.

In memory of the Folk Fair we have kept the information from the final 1999 Folk Fair posted below.

RICH PAWLING & The History Alive! Boys

Rich Pawling is a professor of cultural geography, and the creator and proprietor of “History Alive!’.  He has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. presenting historical theatre enactments and living history workshops. Rich was the 1995 winner of the  National Association for Interpretation ‘Excellence in Interpretation Award.’  Rich has appeared in ‘History Is People’ a television series on the History Channel, which he is producing, in cooperation with Time Warner. Rich lives in Sinking Springs, PA.

QUILT DRAWING

Each year there is a drawing for a beautiful quilt made by members of the local Amish community.

The quilt is obtained from Yoder’s Quilt Shop, located on PA 958, in nearby Bear Lake, PA.

In 1999 the quilt drawing is sponsored and conducted by the Stroup’s Gymnastics School Parents Group,

from Jamestown, NY. All profits go to this sponsoring group.
