THE 1999 FOLK FAIR WAS THE LAST.
All good things come to an end sometime.
There will be many, many wonderful memories.
The end of the millennium is a fitting time to end.
It's better to end the show, and keep good memories,
rather than try to stage the event with diminishing resources.
and have memories be as diminished as the resources.
We hope that you enjoyed what we were able to do.
Thanks, Craig & Sandi Weston

"The most enjoyable hike we found was the Panama Rocks..."
[Buffalo News, GUSTO, 9/5/97]
[COVER FEATURE ARTICLE ON HIKING IN WESTERN NEW YORK]
The scenic rock area opens at 11AM on Folk Fair days.
[On non-festival days, the park opens to the public at 10AM.]
It is much easier to hike before acquiring things to carry.
Most adults can hike the trail non-stop in about 20 minutes,
but, most people take more time because they explore off-trail.
On a hot summer's day, you can escape the heat
in cool, cavernous dens in the scenic rock area.
Exploring off-trail is fun for 'kids' of all ages!
Youth under age 18 must be with an adult
to be admitted into the rock area.

[Many exhibitors do accept credit cards.]
WHEN TO ARRIVE
The earlier that you arrive, the better.
It's best to arrive early [ 11AM - Noon ]
The fair and scenic area open at 11AM,
and most everything starts at that time.
[the music, the demonstrations, etc.]
The rock area is less populated then.
And, the available parking is closer.
PARKING OPTIONS
There is a parking area adjacent to the park [$1 / car].
Some parking is possible along most of the nearby roads.
If all of the parking up on the hill by the park is filled, some patrons
park along the streets of the village, just below the rock formation.
[Then, when leaving, it's a downhill walk to your vehicle, and
along the way, there are usually many yard sales to browse.]
WHERE NOT TO PARK
Do not park on the north side of Rt. 10, across from the park,
where the signs are [from NY 474 up the hill to Brooker St.],
and on the east side of Brooker St. [where there are signs].
Many vehicles that have parked there have been ticketed.
The roads need to be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
We cannot prevent ticketing of illegally parked vehicles.
NEW MODERN RESTROOMS
We now have modern restrooms.
There are even sinks with hot water.
DRINKING FOUNTAIN
Located by the Recreation Building door
[the park Snack Bar is in this building],
near the entry booth to the scenic area.
THERE IS NO PUBLIC TELEPHONE ON THE PROPERTY.
The nearest pay phone is in the village of Panama,
at the flashing light, in front of Julia's Restaurant.
FOR EMERGENCIES GO TO:
THE PORCH BY THE PARK OFFICE
[At the Back of the Big White House]
OR GO TO
THE ICE CREAM CONCESSION
[Next to the Porch by the Park Office]
THINGS NOT PERMITTED
NO PETS
Pets are not permitted on the grounds.
NO ALCOHOL
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the park on Folk Fair days.
NO DISPOSABLES IN SCENIC AREA
Most disposable types of items are not allowed in the scenic area,
[e.g., cans, cups, paper bags, sandwich bags, glass, napkins, etc.]
NO COOKING
Patrons are not permitted to cook food here on Folk Fair days.
Come and Enjoy the Festivities at this Year's FOLK FAIR!
There's a Unique Variety of Things to See, Do, Hear, Eat, and Buy.
The Park's Upper Grounds are Ideal for Staging this Type of Event,
and a Hike in the Scenic Area Adds Adventure to the Experience.
